Brisbane is the capital and largest city of Queensland, and the third-largest city in Australia. The central business district sits on the site of the original European settlement, tucked into a bend of the Brisbane River near its mouth at Moreton Bay. The metropolitan area spreads out in all directions along the river valley floodplain between Moreton Bay and the Great Dividing Range.
